If the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast holds true, come Friday we'll be tying Dallas-Fort Worth's all-time record for consecutive days of triple-digit heat.
The temperature reached 100 just after noon Saturday to extend the heat streak to 36 days. The record is 42 days, set in 1980.
The long-range forecast calls for temperatures of at least 104 through Friday.
But the forecast high for Saturday afternoon of 107 will leave the area short of a sixth consecutive day of record high temperatures. record for the date is 109, set in 2003. So far this month, we've endured record highs every day: 107 on Monday, 110 on Tuesday, 109 on Wednesday, 108 on Thursday and 107 on Friday.
Saturday's triple-digit heat also marks the 43rd day of 2011 with temperatures of 100 or above, tying for seventh all-time with 2006 for most days that has happened in a year. The record is 69 days, also set in 1980.
Should the morning low temperature of 84 Saturday hold up through midnight, it would tie the record for highest low for the date, which was previously set in 1951. And there's little reason to believe it won't.
