RoboRoach aims to dole out the heebie jeebies en-masse

Cyborg insects have been in the works for a while now. Usually, their development has centered around covert spy operations and the like, but spying isn't all that a remote-controlled roach can do. It can also scare the bejeezes out of your roommate.
When it come down to it, being creepy and crawly seems to be the goal of a new Kickstarter campaign. Fittingly dubbed The RoboRoach, the project spouts lofty claims like being "the world's first commercially available cyborg".
And while those claims are true, at the end of the day what they've really created is an R/C car made out of a gross, icky bug. Connected via Bluetooth and controlled through your smartphone, the RoboRoach is pretty much the ideal vehicle for conveying terror upon an unsuspecting sibling or roommate. The giant hunk o' electronics on its back only aids in its creep-out factor.
On the downside, if you go freaking out unsuspecting victims with your RoboRoach you could easily find yourself in need of a new cyborg on a regular basis. Maybe that's why you can order up a half dozen of the robo-critters for half a grand. Not a bad price for your own cyborg commando unit, really. If you'd like to snap up a RoboRoach or six of your own, head on over to the project's Kickstarter page and sign up. While supplies of roaches aren't exactly limited, the RoboRoach Kickstarter is only running for the next month or so. VIDEO
