Take Intel's Atom processor and pair it with NVIDIA's GeForce 9400M chipset and you've got the Ion platform. The latest bold move from NVIDIA offers an alternative to the anemic 945G chipset in current Atom based PC designs, with a faster, more capable chipset that can fully accelerate HD video decode among other things... Video Games Feed Male Urge To Conquer

Scientists at the Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research at Stanford University claim that video games feed the male urge to conquer. On the other hand, women in the study didn’t exhibit the same behavior. I’ll bet the results would be the opposite if they studied “shopping” instead of video games.

"I think it's fair to say that males tend to be more intrinsically territorial. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who historically are the conquerors and tyrants of our species – they're the males. "Most of the computer games that are really popular with males are territory and aggression-type games."

Myst Online Goes Fully Open Source

Massively reports that developer Cyan Worlds has turned their MMOG Myst Online: URU Live into an experiment by releasing all of the game’s assets to the public as open source. They hope that a development community will grow around the project. I’m sure someone will introduce porn into the game world and someone else will create a scam around it.

Amazingly, they aren't simply releasing it into the wild and leaving it alone; Cyan has decided to hold one Myst Online server shard open for players to have a centralized world, despite the fact that others can now freely put up their own Myst Online servers.

NVIDIA's First 55nm GPU: GeForce 9800 GTX+

Shortly after the GT200 launched, AMD "responded" with its Radeon HD 4850, a cheap card by comparison, but a far more interesting one from a practical performance standpoint. Priced at $199 and selling for as little as $170, the Radeon HD 4850 managed to invalidate most of NVIDIA's product line. In response, NVIDIA dropped the price of its GeForce 9800 GTX to $199 as well and introduced one more card: a $229 GeForce 9800 GTX+.

Originally we thought the GTX+ was a silly last minute afterthought as it looked like nothing more than an overclocked 9800 GTX. While its clock speeds are higher, it also happens to be the very first 55nm NVIDIA GPU. [Read more...]

AMD Radeon HD Series 4000

Hey everybody and welcome to yet again a new graphics technology release. It is only a few days ago since NVIDIA released their new flagship product the, GeForce GTX 200 series. While NVIDIA is at the high-end with that particular product release, AMD does things a bit different. See, AMDs new products are targeted at the mainstream market, well slightly above it actually. The products announced will be twofold, the Radeon 4850 and 4870. The new leading mainstream products that quite frankly definitely do pack some really good punch. [Read more...]

Where I was able to gain access to go up to Northernstrike Kit(s) with my specific soldier ID using this v1.4 machine. Just a heads up to everyone who may have not unlocked all their Northernstrike Kits.

GeForce GTX 280 review

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 200 series - Moving beyond gaming

THIS IS SPARTA! Oh ... hi everyone. Yeah once you get to play games with the beast we'll be showing off today I tend to get a little melodramatic. I have this weird thing that once I really like a piece of hardware I try to find a weird euphemism for it that fits the product. The actual GeForce GTX 280 we put to the test reminded me of pure brute force. But all that brute force streamlined, well organized and efficient could very well be an euphemism for SPARTAAAANS.
