Despite many of the cast and creators involved with the Buffy TV series openly denouncing the Joss Whedon-less film that would remake the slayer, its star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has remained surprisingly mum.
If rumors were to be believed, it was possible that Gellar was not quite so against a reboot as everyone else living in Joss Whedon's world. Today, though, we got our answer:
"It was a movie. It's been made. They made it. They don't need to make another one."
Too ambiguous for you? Think she could be more direct? Well ... she did go on a bit:
"I think it's a horrible idea. To try to do a Buffy without Joss Whedon, I mean that's, like, honestly, to be incredibly non-eloquent: that's the dumbest I've ever heard."
You might think that with almost every major player involved in the successful franchise giving the reboot the thumbs-down, plans for the film would be dropped. Not so, according to a recent tweet from screenwriter Whit Anderson on May 6.
When asked if the Buffy movie was still happening, she responded:
"I know, Hollywood takes forEVER! But yes! It is still in the works."
At this point, what's your take? Should this movie still happen, even after what Gellar had to say? Do you still think it'll get made after all the bad press? LINK
