Report: Skyrim Sells 3.4 Million in Two Days

Everyone knew Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would crush retail under its hefty sales boot, but not many people saw this coming: according to one report, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim sold more than 3.4 million copies at retail in its first two days on the shelves -- and that number does not include digital sales.

VG Chartz reports that Skyrim, making its 11/11/11 debut three days after Activision's FPS juggernaut moved 6.5 million copies at retail, sold 2.5 million copies in the Americas and 950,000 units in Europe in just 48 hours.

In the process, Skyrim managed to top Gears of War 3 and FIFA 12, and it's even selling at a faster rate than Battlefield 3's first-week on sale.

VG Chartz notes that its numbers do not include digital sales, and given the enormous number of concurrent Skyrim players on Steam alone over the past few days, we think it's safe to add another 1 million copies sold to the already impressive total.

VG Chartz also reports that 59% of Skyrim sales were for Xbox 360, 27% for PlayStation 3, and 14% on PC (again, not including digital sales). LINK
