Lego R3PTAR snake hisses, rattles and slithers on our wish lists

Want a pet snake but don't want to have to clean up after it? Then consider taking in the R3PTAR, a Lego-composed robot snake that can slither, snap and attack anyone that dares to deconstruct it.
R3PTAR is part of the EV3 set of Lego's programmable Mindstorms series, and is the third one since it was first introduced in 1998. The Mindstorms series offers sets that allow players as young as 10 years old to create robotic animals, robots and vehicles that can move on their own. The R3PTAR set includes sensors, a programmable brick, software and motors and can sync to a smartphone app for remote control. The robots can also be controlled via infrared, an included remote, or by buttons right on its body.

Creations possible include a scorpion-like SPIK3R, a Mohawk-coifed EV3RSTORM robot and three other robot plans. The robots can walk, talk and think on their own and can even shoot a mini bazooka from its little gun if commanded. The TRACK3R model is shaped like a military tank and has a hammer, "blender" blade and can handle tough terrain with its all-terrain wheels. Gripping items is also a breeze for the GRIPP3R robot, which has claws to grasp and hold onto items like mini rubber tires, sticks and maybe even a soda bottle if you're too lazy to get it yourself.
In order to stay relevant in an increasingly digital age and appeal to a wider customer net, Lego's Mindstorms series, which target both kids and adults, will also be available in different language editions for Russia, China, Korea, Japan, Spain and Denmark. Previously, the 'bots spoke only four languages: English, French, German and Dutch.
The colorful brick company will be gearing up for Christmas, which accounts for 70 percent of its total sales, and the EV3 set will likely be a fast seller. Who wouldn't want a hissing, mechanical snake bodyguard in their home? VIDEO
