Buick Grand National and GNX on the way?

Buick Grand National and GNX on the way?
Is Buick close to revealing some details about upcoming successors to the Grand National and GNX? One dealer in North Carolina thinks so, and has started a wait list for customers who want to get in line for a long-anticipated revival of the high-performance nameplates.

GM Authority has been keeping a close eye on General Motors' patent filings for a while. In 2012, GM filed applications for the Grand National and GNX nameplates, and has since requested an extension on those filings three times to allow the automaker time to substantiate their claims. The recent move by Liberty Buick of South Charlotte, NC may be an even more noteworthy indicator that Buick's performance V6 models are due for reintroduction.

Buick has been teasing an expansion of its performance lineup for a few years, leading enthusiasts to believe it was shoring up its credentials in anticipation of new, rear-drive halo models based on GM's Alpha platform--the same architecture underpinning the Cadillac ATS and the next-generation Camaro.

With GM's first round of twin-turbocharged V6 engines finding their way into Cadillac's -V and V-Sport models, the time seems right for Buick to get back into the boosted six-cylinder game in a big way.
