Google's getting serious about this whole wearable tech stuff. With Glass mostly(kinda) launched in prototype form, Google is now turning its attention to smartwatches.
Gadget leaker @evleaks has revealed that Google is tapping LG to build a smartwatch with a 1.65-inch IPS LCD with 280 x 280 resolution, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal flash storage. It's not surprise that Google is working with LG; the two companies have already collaborated on two Nexus smartphones (Nexus 4 and Nexus 5).
The specs put Google's smartwatch in direct competition with Samsung's Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. But as Samsung learned with the first Galaxy Gear, a smartwatch's specs don't matter if the user experience is limited and slow.Earlier reports suggested Google Now, the Google's personal digital assistant, would be an integral feature on its smartwatch.
When can we expect Google's smartwatch? Word on the street is we'll hear something about it during Google I/O at the end of June. Sit tight, and maybe hold off on buying that Pebble Steel, because Google is surely cooking something up for wrists everywhere.
