Rare signed Star Wars book you'll have to sell a kidney to buy
George Lucas spent five years combing through every single frame of the entire Star Wars saga for Star Wars: Frames, a handcrafted book collection that tells the rise and fall of the Skywalker clan. The kicker: Lucas is only making 1138 of 'em.
As Howard Roffman, the head of Lucas Licensing puts it, Lucas felt that there were "interesting works of design" in each frame of the Star Wars saga. So the writer-director-producer-guru went through the million-plus images that comprise the six films and hand-selected 1400 of them that would show off the series' strong cinematography and tell the story through its defining moments.

In an effort to confound really rich gift-givers, this hefty chunk of Star Wars isn't going to go on sale until after the holidays, on January 8, 2011. But if you can wait that long, and are willing to deforest your 401K or sell a kidney, maybe one of the 1,138 boxed sets—a number that pays homage to Lucas' first feature, THX-1138, naturally—can be yours.
