There's no shortage of videos and images of humanoid robots subtly evoking images of science fiction's Terminator terrorizing humans. But those jittery walking demos and frail humanoid bodies were hardly comparable to the chrome death mask worn by James Cameron's robotic villain, that is, until now.
Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries has just unveiled what it calls the world's first stainless steel robot, which has seven degrees of movement. Designed to work in the company's pharmaceuticals division, the robot's stainless steel outer shell will allow for easier decontamination in clean rooms using hydrogen peroxide gas.
And while robot doesn't have glowing red eyes and a menacing skeletal hand (yet), it's not hard to imagine this new exterior layered over something like DARPA's Atlas robot in the near future. You can see the stainless steel robot in action in the video below. VIDEO
