This Drone Footage of a 102-Foot Yacht on Fire is Incredible

Yesterday was the longest day of the year, and we hope that you were all able to make the most of it. If that means attending a car show or spending some time in the park, that is a good way to spend it. Many others will have spent it on the water in a sailboat or powerboat. We’re quite sure the boat in the video below did not make it out on the water this weekend.

The video was taken by Kurt Roll, who operates a camera-equipped drone. According to the description, it occurred somewhere on the San Diego coast, while Roll was filming a friend’s boat. Roll observed smoke and about 10-15 minutes into the fire, flew his drone over to check out the action. The footage is incredible:

The boat is called the M/V Polar Bear, and is a 102-foot yacht, built by Citadel Yachts from Tacoma, Washington. She was launched in 2011 for a “wealthy U.S. businessman,” and the time of its launch, was registered in North Dakota. She is powered by twin Caterpillar C-18B diesel engines, each making 685 horsepower. Right now, they’re not making any power, but we’re quite confident insurance will replace the large vessel.
