Clearly, Mark Wahlberg is a man who needs his space.
The Academy Award-nominated
actor's new home, a 30,000-square-foot behemoth, was recently completed
and is ready for its close-up. No word on whether the Wahlberg clan has
moved in yet.
Aerial photos of the mansion give gawkers an idea of the home's size.
It's kind of like Versailles or the Taj Majal, only, you know, not as
subtle. There's a basketball court, a rock-lined swimming pool (with
waterfall, natch), a gym, a wine cellar, and a putting green according
to the Daily Mail. Not that Wahlberg needs a lot of practice on the links -- Golf Digest named him one of Hollywood's top celebrity golfers.
The home is so big that should Wahlberg decide to screen the poorly received The Happening in the home theater, his guests will have no choice but to stay for fear of getting lost.
While the mansion is absolutely massive, it is worth noting that Wahlberg isn't living solo. He's a married man with four kids. So, let's do the math. Six people. 30,000 square feet. That's about 5,000 square feet per Wahlberg, not including "the grounds."
The home was designed by renowned architect Richard Landry, who also designed the 15,000 square-foot-home of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen.
Hey Richard, got any time to design us some new cubicles? LINK
