No, really. McLaren decided to ditch its numerical naming scheme in place of something worse. I don’t get it either— but like it or not, the new Sports Series will be here sometime next year, and it’s probably still going to be pretty good.
Being the “cheapest” of the British marque’s lineup, the $200,000 entry-level sportscar will use the carbon fiber chassis seen here and a less-powerful 3.8-liter V8. McLaren is aiming directly for the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type with this one.
Other details are still pretty scarce, but we do expect to see this sporty new McLaren at the Geneva Show in March. For now, catch McLaren’s weird cryptic teaser video below:
