Steve Jobs thinks Blu-ray sucks, too
It's no secret that Steve Jobs isn't a fan of Flash. Turns out, he's also not too hot about Blu-ray. The winner of the HD Format War probably won't ever find its way onto an Apple product. You know what? That makes a lot of sense.
Apple has iTunes, which sells everything from movies to music. It's got its App Store, which handles that and everything else. The company doesn't really deal in the kind of physical media Blu-ray represents.
Nailing the coffin shut is this email from Steve Jobs to a user who complained of Apple's lack of Blu-ray support:
Bluray is looking more and more like one of the high end audio formats that appeared as the successor to the CD — like it will be beaten by Internet downloadable formats.
Apple not allowing Flash onto its mobile line-up is still pretty dubious. (Hey! Maybe the rest of the Flash world will go the way of Hulu Plus and charge us for what we could get for free. Great!) But, eh, streaming content really does plug the gap left by Blu-ray pretty handily.
