Guillermo del Toro taps Red Faction developer for Insane

Guillermo del Toro has been alluding to a videogaming deal for a while now. The details, scant as they are, have been officially announced. The director of Pan's Labyrinth (pictured) and the Hellboy movies will serve as "creative director" for three games to be developed by Volition and published by THQ. The title for the games is Insane. Or inSANE, if you want to use their formatting.
With any other director, I'd be inclined to write it off as a branding deal. But del Toro seems to be the kind of comic book and videogame nerd who actually has something substantial to offer in the unique process of making a videogame. Unfortunately, the first installment in the trilogy isn't due until 2013, so it's going to be a while before we know anything else worth knowing.
