“But isn’t it just the same old iPhone 4 from last year?” Yes and no. For starters, and we’re always surprised at how many among Verizon’s user base don’t know this, the iPhone 4 has been available on Verizon since March. It’s a modified model which can talk to Verizon’s network. Verizon customers who are waiting for the iPhone 5 should only do so if they want the iPhone 5, not because they mistakenly believe it’s the only way to get a Verizon iPhone.
The iPhone 4 is now also available in white. And while that’s not a quantifiable feature, many customers consider color choice a good thing. That makes the white iPhone 4 option a new feature.

But the real reason why it’s okay to buy an iPhone 4 is that even though it runs the current iOS 4.3 on-screen operating system and interface now, Apple will allow you to easily upgrade it to the new iOS 5 interface for free once it’s released. That’s the same system the iPhone 5 will run.
The list of reasons to wait for the iPhone 5 release date (if you can) is a long one. The iPhone 5 will likely be faster, thinner, offer more battery life and a better camera, and toss in surprise new features. And the iPhone 4 will likely see a cheaper price tag once the iPhone 5 arrives. But that doesn’t mean you must wait. If your ancient iPhone 3G is dying or you just can’t stand one more day on your Android, the fact that a better iPhone is coming doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the current one. Here’s more on the iPhone 5.
