There won't be any crazy summer iPhone launches this year thanks to the iPhone's new fall release, but that doesn't mean the rumor mill stops. Today's iPhone rumors aren't just juicy — they're logical (for a change).
iPhone rumors are a dime a dozen, but this one is coming from iLounge's Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Horwitz. iLounge claims that the next iPhone (sixth-generation) will not take on the "teardrop" design rumor that was rampant last year.
Apple will reportedly stick to the design of the iPhone 4S, but will stretch the phone's height by 10mm to squeeze in a 4-inch display (up from 3.5-inches). Additionally, the next iPhone will shave off 1.9mm to become 7.4mm (down from 9.3mm). Its back will also have a flat metal panel in the middle. Could it be the "Liquidmetal iPhone" we've been hearing about?
A longer iPhone would ultimately change the iPhone's 3:2 aspect ratio. A few weeks ago, The Verge forum member modilwar did a sketch of how a 4-inch iPhone would work. iLounge's report seems to suggest modilwar's analysis could be on the mark.
Most striking in the Apple blog's report is that Apple will finally ditch the 30-pin dock connector for a smaller pill-shaped connector (corroborating a story that iMore reported in February).
