1st glimpse of Jackman's THE WOLVERINE on set in Japan!
The eagerly anticipated new standalone film The Wolverine recently started shooting in Tokyo, and now we finally have our first look at Hugh Jackman and company bringing the Japanese-set tale to life.

The set pics show off Jackman in the title role, plus newcomer Rila Fukushima as Yukio, an assassin/love interest for Logan.

Jackman appears to be wearing formal attire, and set reports indicate the scene in question was a grand funeral set at a Buddhist temple.
The storyline is loosely based on the acclaimed Frank Miller and Chris Claremont comic run that took Logan on a kick-ass journey though Japan. It's arguably one of the best Wolverine stories ever written, and if translated well, it could make for a truly epic film.
Directed by James Mangold, this new The Wolverine pic is already generating some solid buzz—thanks in large part to recent comments by Jackman assuring fans that it will be nothing like the critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The Wolverine is tentatively set to open July 26, 2013.
