Student’s Refusal to Wear RFID Expulsion Postponed

There is nothing like good old holiday spirit to warm your heart and keep you from being expelled. A San Antonio student was given a short reprieve over the holidays from being expelled for refusing to wear an RFID badge around the school grounds during class. And to think, hall monitors used to be considered a pain.

In response to the mounting scrutiny caused by Hernandez’s case, the school offered to remove the RFID tag and battery from Hernandez’s SmartID on the condition that the family stop campaigning against the program and publicly support it.
