It's official: Here's who's starring in (+ directing) Resident Evil 6

It’s one of the few successful franchises to make the jump from videogame to movies, so don’t expect Resident Evil to go away anytime soon.
Resident Evil 6 is officially happening, and the studio seems to have wrangled longtime star Milla Jovovich (Alice) and longtime director Paul W.S. Anderson back for one more go-round.

It’s not much of a surprise to hear the duo will be back for the next film, as Anderson had originally wanted to shoot Resident Evil 6 at the same time as the fifth installment, but eventually decided to just focus on Retribution.
The franchise is pretty much wild, popcorn sci-fi—but it does have an audience. Five films in, Retribution still managed to wrangle a $221 million box-office haul, so there’s still a lot of life left in this old zombie story.
No word on what the sequel will focus on, but after the ending to the last film, it’s safe to say that we’ll see the continued journey of Alice as she battles zombies and the evil Umbrella Corp.
As for what’s coming beyond Resident Evil 6? Who knows, but it’s likely this will be Jovovich and Anderson’s last film. Anderson has previously said he’s aiming for a double trilogy, so he may try to wrap up his convoluted epic with the last film. This being such a popular franchise, you’d have to think a reboot would come sooner rather than later.
Are you glad to hear Resident Evil will be sticking around for (at least) one more installment? What direction do you want them to take the series?
