Which State is the Most Stressed?

Hawaii, a state known for sun, surf and stress relief, is the least-stressed state in the nation for the fifth year in a row, according to the latest release from the Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index.
Nationwide, more than 40 percent of Americans reported feeling frazzled the day before taking the poll, similar to past years. Regionally, the most-stressed states were clustered in the Northeast and Midwest.
To develop the list, pollsters asked more than 350,000 Americans whether they felt stressed “during a lot of the day yesterday.”

Two of the states with the lowest stress levels, Hawaii and Wyoming, also boasted the highest levels of enjoyment. More than 89 percent of Hawaiians said they experienced enjoyment the day before the survey and 88 percent said so in Wyoming. Although the relationship between stress and enjoyment is unclear, pollsters said, stressed states tend to report less daily enjoyment.
Although it’s no surprise the Aloha State (again) snagged the top spot, there are some upsets in the mix. Take a look at the slideshow above to find out where your state ranks. States are listed in order from least to most stressed. Gallup Healthways previously released a list of states based on the rate of obesity, which is viewable below. LINK
