World's longest experiment completed - Tar Pitch

Trinity College Dublin has finally done it: they captured a drop of tar pitch falling — it's taken 69 years for this experiment to be completed, making it one of the longest-running lab tests ever.
The goal was to show that tar pitch, which is a solid, carbonic material, has liquid properties as well. But there's a catch: you have to give it time to do its thing. 69 years in this case. Good thing the camera was working — the same experiment was conducted earlier in Australia, but the camera was offline when the pitch eventually dropped back in 2000. VIDEO
