The US wasn’t necessarily checking up on the recent Chinese moon shot for accuracy and certainly not calling them out for erroneous information, NASA just wanted to see what a Jade Rabbit looks like sitting on the lunar surface. So much so that NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter swung by for a quick look-see, just to make sure.
