Mopar unveils new monster truck

Chrysler's Mopar parts division is set to unveil its first, all-new monster truck in over a decade. The new truck, called "Mopar Muscle", will be unveiled on January 11 at the Monster Jam in Detroit.
Mopar Muscle will be run as part of Hall Brothers Racing team, joining the outfit's other Ram-based monster trucks, "Raminator" and "Rammunition". Mopar Muscle will appear at six Monster Jam events in 2014.

"We're excited to have Mopar make its first foray into the world of monster trucks by joining the Ram brand in this popular and competitive exhibition series with a such a passionate and loyal following," said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO -- Mopar, Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand. "So much of what Mopar does is applicable to the general consumer, but occasionally we like to show just how capable our brand is of really extreme performance. This is a great and fun opportunity for us to do that with Mopar Muscle and the Hall Brothers."

Mopar Muscle is the sport's first OEM-backed truck in more than a decade.

Standing 10 feet high and tipping the scales at 10,300 pounds, Mopar Muscle is powered by a 2,000 horsepower 565 cubic-inch V8. The block for the truck is based on Chrysler's legendary Gen II 426 Hemi motor, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014.
