Audi S1 Sportback Delivers 231HP and a Nostalgic Nameplate - S1

The original Audi S1 died in 1991, along with the all the rest of Audi’s rally dreams. But not before the S1 cemented itself in racing history as one of the best there ever was. Now it’s back, and while it may be much cuter and much hatch-ier than before, it revives the iconic nameplate with pride and power.

At 231 horsepower, the S1 Sportback packs enough of a punch to put lesser hatchbacks to shame. The 2.0-liter TFSI engines comes paired to a six-speed manual transmission and Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel drive. To 62 mph, the Sportback will run in only 5.8 seconds.

Sporting a yellow and black paint scheme — similar to Audi’s iconic racing livery — the S1 comes in a new five door layout. This hot hatch also sports 17-inch rims and 225/35 R18 rubbers.
Inside, the S1 doesn’t stray much from the original A1 in terms of design. A simple black theme with silver and yellow accents give the S1 Sportback a few minor tweaks to the clean interior.

Both the new S1 and S1 Sportback will be on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March.
