The Mountain from Game of Thrones is officially Europe's Strongest Man. Or as The Viper might say, "D'oh!"
Hafþór "Thor" Björnsson, who plays Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane on the HBO drama, won this year’s Europe’s Strongest Man contest last week. The 6-foot-9, 420-pound Iceland native won four of six strength competitions: Deadlift, Yoke, Forward Hold (Thor's Hammer), Giant Dumbell for reps (100 kg), Atlas Stones, and Loading Race. The Mountain's best event (besides gouging out eyes) was the Atlas Stones, where he lifted an unprecedented six stones of increasing weights onto barrels. He also won the dumbbell press, lifting a 100-kg (220-pound) weight above his head with one arm seven times. And of course, he crushed it in his namesake’s category: Thor's Hammer.
"I am the future of strength, as I am king of the stones!" he screamed, before hacking some poor dude in half.
