Watch this Formula Racecar Tackle a Snowy Nurburgring

Some people swear that if you don’t have all- or four-wheel-drive, you simply cannot negotiate even the lightest of snowy roads – “simply impossible,” they say. But we’re guessing those folks probably haven’t ever seen or tried this.
On a rather snowy, icy and frigid day at Germany’s Nurburgring Nordschleife (3 degrees Fahrenheit), ‘Ring driving academy instructor Andy Gulden took a high-powered and very racy single seater out for a spin. No actual spinning to report here, just a lot of incredible car control. Take a look.

Intended for training novice drivers, Nurburgring formula cars boast 1.2-liter four-cylinder engines, which output around 140 horsepower. Add to that a featherweight heft of just over 1,000 pounds and you’re looking at quite a slidy ride, despite the grippy snow tires. Make sure to watch to the end; it seems that keeping a formula-style car going in a straight line … flat out … in the snow … is not easy at all.
People of the frozen north, give that four-by-four a rest and warm up the Miata. LINK
