That JLA movie? Zack Snyder's Superman has nothing do with it

The rollercoaster ride that is the development of a Justice League movie just took another turn: Zack Snyder says his upcoming Superman reboot has nothing to do with it.
When Warner Brothers head honcho Jeff Robinov revealed earlier this week that he was looking to launch a Justice League movie in 2013, he also acknowledged that Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy—which will end next year with The Dark Knight Rises—would not be connected to the Justice League project and that the Batmanfranchise itself would be rebooted.

But while Batman himself would be recast—since Christian Bale is also finished with the role after next year—it was strongly suggested that the new Superman, Henry Cavill, might end up also leading the DC superheroes team that includes the Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and others.
Not so fast, however. Director Zack Snyder, who begins shooting his Superman film (tentatively titledThe Man of Steel) this summer, told British blog Hey U Guys that his Superman has nothing to do with the Justice League either: "Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I'm doing with Superman, what they'll do with Justice League will be its own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We'll be over here with our movie and they kinda get to do it twice which is kinda cool."
If Snyder's right, that means there could be two big-screen Supermans out there—one in his own film (and, we presume, sequels) and one in the Justice League movie.
Ironically, this is exactly what the studio wanted to avoid back in 2008, the last time a Justice Leaguefilm was in development. Actor Armie Hammer (The Social Network) had actually been cast as Batman until it was decided that having him and Bale playing the role in separate movies would confuse audiences.
We admit to being confused ourselves, and we follow this stuff for a living. Do you think the studio knows something that Snyder doesn't? Should they wait and let the dust settle from the upcomingBatmanSuperman and Green Lantern movies before even thinking about a Justice League film?
