Director J.J. Abrams is guilty of overusing the lens flare, which he says gives movies an "organic" feel. We say that even the most pretty effect becomes annoying after the 20 zillionth repetition. And we're not the only ones.
YouTuber BoyGeniusComedy made a parody of J.J. Abrams movie, complete with lens flares. What are we saying? Actually, that's the title of the short. Check out Lens Flare: The Movie, below.
Note: Back in the day, a lens flare was considered a mistake, and companies spent big bucks developing reflective coating and filters to reduce the possibility of a flare. Today it's considered arty, and directors spend even bigger money making the crew position the camera, mirrors and multiple light sources to achieve that starburst effect.
