The end is near. Warner Bros. has released an epic new teaser poster for The Dark Knight Rises. It features Tom Hardy as Bane, lots of rain, and a trail of shattered debris. The man's out for blood and there's nothing we can do to stop him!
Aside from Bane's intimidating presence, the poster features Batman's broken cowl and the tagline "The Legend Ends." If that's not a foreboding advertisement we don't know what is. The shattered cowl definitely alludes to "The Man Who Broke the Bat" storyline Bane is known for. It's no secret that Batman's going to be incapacitated at some point, we just don't know how or when.
What if Christopher Nolan deviates from "breaking The Bat" and takes him out another way? Since this is the final entry in his Batman series, we'd like him to exit on a somber but still hopeful note. He could let Bruce Wayne take a hit, while leaving the door open for a replacement. The possibilities are endless. We're both excited and terrified to see what happens next.
The Dark Knight Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film opens in conventional and IMAX theaters July 20.
