That Highlander reboot has reportedly been circling Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) for a while now, but now it seems to be official—the former comedian will be the one to (hopefully) bring Highlander back into the mainstream.
The news comes via The Tracking Board, who is reporting that Reynolds has officially signed on to headline the new big-screen Highlander. Reynolds will play Connor MacLeod, who was first played by Christopher Lambert in the original film.
If you're unfamiliar with the Highlander premise, here's the tagline from the first installment:
An immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his immortal opponent, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize".Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is already signed on for the reboot, with Neal Moritz (I Am Legend) and Peter Davis (Highlander) producing.
Reynolds is no stranger to sci-fi, and has had roles in everything from Blade Trinity to X-Men Origins: Wolverine in recent years. He also headlined the recent, critically panned Green Lantern flick.
Do you think Ryan Reynolds is the man for the job, or would you prefer that someone else step into MacLeod's shoes?
