Mad Catz isn't the only one with a sick new gaming keyboard. Hardcore PC peripheral maker Razer announced at Gamescom its new DeathStalker Ultimate gaming keyboard that boasts the Switchblade's adaptive keypad buttons and 4.05-inch touchscreen trackpad.
By and large, the DeathStalker Ultimate is not a new product. It's a rebooted version of Razer's Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming keyboard, but without Star Wars styling.
Trading its licensed trims for a more stealthy and subtle looking black, the DeathStalker has 10 adaptive keys or as Razer puts it "dynamic display keys with 80Hz response time," full Chiclet-style keys, tri-color backlit keys, five programmable macro keys, 1000Hz Ultrapolling, anti-ghosting for up to 10 key presses, and of course that 4.05-inch touchscreen.
Does that touchscreen trackpad and those 10 dynamic display keys sound familiar? That's because it's the same one on the company's svelte Blade gaming notebook.
As with all of Razer's top-knotch hardware, the wiring is braided so it will withstand the wear and tear of time. It's also got a USB on its side, in case you need to charge up your smartphone.
The kicker is its $250 price. Of course, if you don't want the touchscreen or adaptive buttons, you can pick up regular $80 DeathStalker. Both should be available this September.
In all honesty, we prefer our gaming keyboards to be mechanical and not have island/Chiclet-style keys, but everybody has a different preference.
