Intel Announces 180GB Intel 335 SSD

Intel has announced the addition of another capacity point in the 335 Series, which was limited to only the 240GB model. Now Intel has added a 180GB SSD, though it has opted to stay with the 9.5mm chassis, relegating this SSD to the desktop market. The new 20nm NAND onboard with the SandForce SF-2281 controller places this series of SSDs into the value segment.

The launch of the 180GB model also marks the entrance of a new consumer market friendly design for the Intel SSDs. We can see the electronic circuit board sticker up top, and rounded plastic casing covering the edges of the SSD with this new design.

The 180GB model is hitting the streets at just $181.99, a price point of $1.01 per GB. Expect this price to drop in the coming weeks, as the 240GB model is a steal at $191.99, or just 80 cents a GB.
