Clone Wars' Palpatine is gonna be played by Tim Curry? Awesome!

There's no crime in giving yourself over to pleasure. Or, in this case, the Dark Side.
Ian Abercrombie has been the voice for Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious for quite some time, and his passing left not only a hole in the hearts of Star Wars fans, but a huge gap in the Clone Wars itself. Without Abercrombie, who could play the most sinister of sinister villains from a galaxy far, far away?

Supervising director for the cartoon series Dave Filoni took the task of recasting the role tremendously seriously and came up with an absolutely perfect replacement -- Tim Curry.
We had an extensive search to find a new voice for Palpatine. It wasn’t just a matter of finding an actor who could to recreate lines from the films. We needed someone to deliver a performance that could stand alongside what Ian McDiarmid and Ian Abercrombie created as this legendary Star Wars character. At the end of the day, there is little question that bringing in an actor of Tim’s caliber was perfect for Chancellor Palpatine.
We have to say that we wholeheartedly approve. Curry has played so many baddies to camp perfection over the decades that we've lost count. Curry is set to debut this coming Saturday in the season finale. While we're still sad about the loss of Abercrombie, but we're still excited to see what new flavor Curry will bring to the role.
