Guy hacks Donkey Kong, lets his daughter play as Pauline

Video game maker Mike Mika and his 3-year-old daughter enjoy playing games together, and Donkey Kong happens to be one of their favorites. If you've ever played this classic game, then you know that Mario always rescues the girl. But, Mika's daughter was dismayed to find out that she couldn't play as a female character. So Mika did what any video game making dad would do: he hacked the system so that his daughter could play as Pauline instead.

Here's Mika on his little project:
My three year old daughter and I play a lot of old games together. Her favorite is Donkey Kong. Two days ago, she asked me if she could play as the girl and save Mario. She's played as Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2 and naturally just assumed she could do the same in Donkey Kong. I told her we couldn't in that particular Mario game, she seemed really bummed out by that. So what else am I supposed to do? Now I'm up at midnight hacking the ROM, replacing Mario with Pauline.
Awww. What a dad. VIDEO
