As you might have guessed, Taser International is the company that makes the non-lethal, electrically-charged Taser “stun gun.” It’s an enormous company, and the stun gun has had enormous impact. It’s reported that about 90 percent of police departments in the United States use the Taser.
And now the company is releasing the Axon Flux, which is a 3.2-inch camera that can be clipped onto a ball cap or a lapel, and functions for up to 12 hours. It can record audio and video, which could be a game-changer in the policing world.
All an officer has to do is push a small button, and the Axon Flux will warm up by recording 30 seconds of just video then switch to audio and video recording.
Aside from helping settle police brutality claims, the videos captured by this device could stand up as evidence, which would have a major effect on what was happening in the court rooms.
If anything, it’s a bit easier to stomach than Taser’s eponymous product.
