It turns out that even the Miss Universe Pageant has good cosplay these days.
There's probably a fleet of criticisms someone else could level about the nature of pageantry, but we're not terribly qualified to judge such things. Instead, we're going to focus on the totally unexpected Transformers cosplay bomb that Miss USA, Erin Brady, dropped on the world.
Apparently, part of the Miss Universe pageant this year involved a segment where each contestant wore something that represents the culture of their native land. So, you know, there was a lot of clothing that called back to the rich tapestry of each country's respective golden ages. Then there was America.
We especially appreciate the way Brady holds up her arms as if to say, "Oh yeah! What now?" Yes, she's dressed as Optimus Prime. And, yes, she does look more like a very patriotic American's take on the Kiss Army. I mean, what is happening on her feet?
But a fashion blog we are not so, for now, we are here simply to report the facts. The fact is this -- Miss USA dressed as Optimus Prime. What that says about the state of the universe or humanity in general, we'll leave to you.
