Manga Farming, an art project by Tokyo-based Koshi Kawachi, takes old manga (Japanese comic books, for the uninitiated) and turns them into potted plants. Apparently, old, wet paper is a fine place for radish sprouts to grow. Who knew?
He's got a whole bunch of the book-plants on display at the Matsuzakaya department store in Nagoya, if you happen to be in the area. Although if you're a manga fan, it might give you a few pangs of sadness in their hearts to see books that no one will ever read again. But hey, it's all for the sake of art.
