Vinyl playing stereo looks like it's ready to take flight

Vinyl playing stereo looks like it's ready to take flight

This sculptural looking beauty is actually an audio system concept called the Dala, that combines the old school tech of a vinyl turntable, with cutting edge speakers that use thin membrane drivers.

Those things that look kind of like wings are actually the speakers, with each different sized fin handling an individual range of frequencies. The fins bounce their sound off an acrylic reflector plate, which designer Bradley Paulet claims will project the sound into the room in a way that offers a stereo image from anywhere in the room.
Normally vibrations mean that you shouldn't sit a turntable near your speakers, but the Dala has each of its three parts mounted on a vibration dampening wall brackets to minimize this problem.
Currently the Dala is just a concept. PHOTOS
