Lost creator Damon Lindelof is known for his sharp, witty and opinionated tweets. But this time he might have gone too far.
Lindelof saw X-Men: First Class over the weekend and had this to say on Twitter about January Jones' performance as mutant sexpot Emma Frost:
"Emma Frost's THREE mutant powers: Telepathy, Transformation to Solid Diamond and last but not least, Sucking at Acting."
Clearly the writer/producer rethought his comments since he then posted a few days later: "I need to stop saying mean things on Twitter. #MORNINGAFTER."
Lindelof has posted some interesting tweets before, such as a 140-character summation of all six seasons of Lost, the ending of Inception, and other topics. But he has never come out swinging so directly against someone else in the film business.
Apparently, however, he's not the first to have foul feelings about Jones. Actor Zach Galifianakis said in an interview that "she and I were very rude to each other" the one time they met.
Jones has already been a source of controversy with regard to X-Men: The actress is pregnant and has refused to name the father, leading to speculation that it was another actor in the movie or even director Matthew Vaughn who did the deed.
Lindelof is currently working on Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic Prometheus, and we'll see if Jones tweets anything about the script when the movie arrives next year.
Do you think Lindelof was out of line with such a harsh tweet? Or do you agree with his opinion of Jones' acting abilities?
