These images aren't x-rays, and they haven't been photoshopped. You're looking at realanimals that have been carefully preserved, partially dissected with chemicals, and then had their bones and cartilage dyed brilliant colors. They're the work of Japanese artist and ichthyologist Iori Tomita, and each animal can take up to a year to complete.
These fish are actually for sale, it seems, and if you're ever at the Tokyu Hands department store, make sure and bring me back one.
