Sprint to Sell Motorola Photon 4G on July 31

Sprint plans to sell the Motorola Photon 4G, a high-end Android phone, on July 31 for $200 with a two-year contract
The Photon, Sprint's first-ever 4G world phone, features a 4.3-inch touch screen, 8-megapixel camera with 720p video capture and 16-gigabytes of internal memory. It's also Sprint's first device to feature a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor for speedier apps.

Sprint is the last major U.S. carrier to offer an unlimited data plan, making the Photon especially attractive. Verizonswitched to tiered plans last week, and AT&T hasn't offered unlimited data for over a year.
The Photon, paired Sprint's beefier plans, keeps it competitive as rivals release high-end contenders. Last week, for instance, Verizon launched the much-anticipated Droid 3is next up will be Motorola's Droid Bionic, expected to shoot right to the top of the list as the carrier's only phone to offer 4G speeds and a dual-core processor.
In addition, Apple may release the iPhone 5 as early as August, according to the latest speculation, which may also add to a very crowded market of high-end handsets at the end of this summer.
With no guarantee Sprint will carry the iPhone anytime soon, the Photon will likely be the carrier's flagship device as it heads toward the end of summer and into the holiday retail season, when carriers anticipate the bulk of the year's sales.
Sprint has struggled to offer as impressive a selection of devices as its rivals, but for those who want unlimited data, it is now the only option. And for customers that want a top-of-the-line device to take advantage of unlimited data, the Photon may be the answer.
