Gerard Butler's Leonidas may return for the 300 sequel (HA-OOH!)

Even though Butler's bold King of Sparta ate a flight of arrows at the end of Zack Snyder's bloody blockbuster, he could see action once more, since 300: Battle of Artemisia is a prequel.
And, according to producer Bernie Goldmann, there's room for Butler and Lena Headey to reprise their roles as Leonidas and Queen Gorgo in director Noam Murro's retelling of Xerxes' rise to power and the Greek strategist, Themistocles, who plays a decisive part in the titular Battle.

Though, while Goldmann would be glad to have Butler and Headey back, much of his focus will be on finding new actors to fill out this 300 flick:
"When you make a period movie like that, it's great not to know the actors. ... For me, as an audience, it always brings me into the movie more. You can't see Tom Cruise in a historical movie. You go, 'That's Tom Cruise!'"
To be fair, Bryan Singer's Valkyrie, starring Cruise as a rebellious Nazi officer during World War II, made $200 million worldwide. And Troy, with Brad Pitt as the legendary Achilles, made almost $500 million. But, okay, sure. If you say so, Bernie. LINK
