Aviation buffs are going to want to get their hands on one of these for their man caves this summer. It's a 1:6 scale Hughes MD 500 helicopter that, courtesy of its upside-down landing on your ceiling, allows its propellers to cool you off.
It's a pretty good choice for the job with the Hughes MD 500 being on of the few helicopters that could fly upside down — among thousands of other aero-acrobatic feats. And you thought it was just quadrocopters that had amazing maneuverability!
This helicopter fan from Raffaele Iannello is appropriately called "Upside Down," and is made from fiberglass and carbon fiber blades so there are no worries about the weight of this masterpiece bringing the ceiling down. It comes in shiny black with a silver helipad as the base and is equipped with a remote controlled three-speed motor.
The diameter of the blades is 55 inches, and the base is 27.5 inches.
The fan made its debut at Milan Design Week and no price has been listed on the Raffaele Iannello website. So you guys know the drill. You'll likely have to go into this one with an open mind and after payday.
Even though I'm positive I can't afford this ceiling fan, I love the look of this thing and if they came out with the Magnum P.I. livery I'd have a hard time not hocking something to get one. LINK
