First we had Cowboys & Aliens, and now the undead (and the Romans) are getting into the mashup mix. Meet: Zombies vs. Gladiators. Though it may sound like a B-movie concept, a horror icon has taken the helm of this one and could actually make this a shambling good time.
Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Lord of Illusions) is the man bringing this flick together—he's just signed on to direct and rewrite the script for Zombies vs. Gladiators for Amazon, the megalith online retailer that's just getting into the movie business. The project is one of 16 coming out of Amazon Studios, which is using public submissions and feedback to craft potential film concepts.
According to Deadline, the film will kick off when "a shaman about to die in the Coliseum casts a spell that rouses history's first wave of zombies. It's up to a gladiator to stop the spread of the zombie horde and save Rome."
Ludicrous? Yes. Potentially awesome? Absolutely.
