James Mangold's The Wolverine is finally shooting in Australia, and we just got our first peek at under-construction sets and even a bit of concept art. But what do those glimpses tell us about the film's plot?
First, there's the set being built in the photos. It looks like a well, and a model of the set in another photo seems to confirm that. Is Wolverine himself about to spend some time underground?
Then there's the model of what looks like a camp, complete with fences and guard towers. That, according to Australian news site The Leader, is a World War II prisoner-of-war camp set now under construction at Australia's Bonna Point Reserve. We know Wolverine was a soldier, so that make sense, but what's really interesting is what we can glimpse on that concept art bulletin board.
Because we're faced with the task of trying to isolate a bunch of small images in low resolution, we can't say exactly what each of these images depicts, but we could make out a mushroom cloud, a man standing against a fiery backdrop and what looks like post-nuclear devastation. Is Wolverine about to live through the atomic bombings of Japan in 1945?
We'll know more as the film gets closer to its 2013 release, but it definitely looks like we're in for at least a bit of World War II suffering for Logan.
