It wasn't that long ago that David E. Kelley's proposed Wonder Woman series was barreling toward a pickup over at NBC, with the lovely Adrianne Palicki attached to star. That is, until the network pulled the plug at the last minute. Now the series' would-be star has opened up about what went down behind the scenes.
According to Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Red Dawn) the show was all but assured a series pickup—to the point where some promo press had already been scheduled. But she says that was before some network "politics" got in the way.
Palicki is a great actress, though the footage that eventually leaked out from the pilot left a lot to be desired, which many speculated was why it didn't make the schedule.
She told Crave Online:
"It was shocking. There were obviously politics involved. It had gotten picked up as far as I knew so when we got that call it was incredibly shocking. We were set up to go to Jimmy Kimmel and everything else so it was a real shock. It was hard to take at first."Regardless, Palicki said she's proud of the job she did and the connections she got to make working on a high-profile network property:
"I'm incredibly proud of that project. I was so grateful to get to play Wonder Woman. That was a childhood dream of mine and I'm proud of the outcome. I do wish it would have gone to series but everything happens for a reason. Looking at it as a positive, I got to work with some amazing actors, [an] amazing writer and I got to wear the outfit. It was not comfortable but it was totally worth it."Why do you think the series didn't make the cut? Was it "politics" behind the scenes, or just the fact that the show really didn't look that good?
