Kochi, India gets 1 gigabit per second Internet connection
Thanks to Google's Startup Village, Kansas City recently gained a 1 gigabit per second internet connection via a few thousand miles of fiber cables that were laid below the city. Well, India is now jumping on the ultra-fast Internet bandwagon, gaining its own 1 Gbps in Startup Village of Kochi.
Those fibers contain small glass fibers that offer faster speeds. Remember, this connection is 100 times faster than broadband Internet but with an upload speed of 1,000 times that of broadband.

"Startup Village aims to build the elements of a world class tech ecosystem to realize the dream of a Silicon Coast in India," said Sanjay Vijayakumar, chairman of Startup Village in a statement.

He went on to say this is a pilot program, and they have plans for further programs around India.
