Many of us live in places with extreme seasonal temperature changes. How well your house
stands up to the weather plays a role in your comfort level throughout
the year. What if there was a house that could change shape to
accommodate different weather conditions, time changes, sunrise, sunset,
and everything else?
UK designers David Ben Grünberg and Daniel Woolfson have developed a shape-shifting house. Their unique concept can fold into eight different shapes. The design was inspired by Henry Dudeney's mathematical formula, the Haberdasher's Puzzle, that divides an equilateral triangle into four parts that can then be reconfigured to form a square.
The Dynamic D*Haus, as it's called, was originally designed to handle the harsh weather conditions in Lapland, but the beauty of Grünberg and Woolfson's design is that it can be used anywhere in the world. A model of the house is currently on display at London's Anise Gallery where anyone can enjoy the unique properties of this metamorphic concept.
