Here on DVICE, we've seen a lot of different 3D printers that print all sorts of different things. From records to phone cases, there are so many creative possibilities, but never before have we seen something quite this ambitious: Dutch architecture firm Universe Architecture is planning to build a house with 3D printed materials in the shape of a Möbius strip.
This is the first project of its kind and the building, dubbed 'Landscape House,' will be printed in parts using a massive D-Shape printer. On this scale, the printer can make sections up to about 20 x 30 feet from a combination of binding agent and sand. Architects from Universe Architecture will work with Italian inventor Enrico Dini (the developer of the D-Shape printer) and mathematician and artist Rinus Roelofs from the beginning stages through completion.
We can't wait to see more when this project is finished, but for now, explore the design in the gallery below. According to Universe Architecture architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars, "it will be the first 3D printed building in the world. I hope it can be opened to the public when it's finished." So do we.
